trouble connecting the HDR-HC7 to Windows XP via Firewire

Hi I have the cd for windows for my HDR-HC7 I just bought from America but cannot get it to load in my computer.
Well It loads to a point I accept conditions then click to load then it asks me if I have the right CD for the camera.
I asked the fella I bought it off he assures me it worked & was the right cd for windows XP
Anyone any answers as I am only new to this.

If you are using the Firewire cable, then you don't need the driver software CD. Windows XP has the Firewire driver built-in. You need to look at the Device Master after plugging in the camcorder to see what is wrong with the Firewire driver. Did you turn the camcorder on after plugging it in? Did you set it to VCR mode?
