turning TRV900 into tapeless recording camera

I own a great video camera the sony trv900. It is a 3ccd camera, has a pcmcia port that i have a memory stick adaptor for. I also own a trv17 that has a memory stick slot built in. on the trv17 you can record video directly to the memory stick (but only in 15sec increments). Is it possible to hack the trv900 to record video directly to the memory card? also is it possible for the pcmcia card to be compatible with higher capacity memory sticks (ie the 8gb or higher kind)

I don't quite understand. So the TRV900 has a PCMCIA slot. But you can't record directly to the PCMCIA slot? What is the purpose of the PCMCIA slot on this camcorder?

The PCMCIA slot was intended to be storage for still photos only. I have the same question though. I would love to use this for video. To answer your other question, whether or not there are super hi capacity pcmcia cards (like 16GB) is still a mystery to me. There is something called PCMCIA Express, which does have large capacities. However, I'm not sure if it is compatible with standard PCMCIA or if the converter I saw would make it compatible.

Either way, I think there is another bigger question. Can the Firewire port connect to an external solid state drive? this might be the better hack.
