IBM PC Camera Driver for Microsoft Windows Vista

The problem with this camera's driver and Vista is that it does download the driver, but it has an error, known to Microsoft as 'Error 10'. It's on the computer, but it's just not recognizing the fact that the camera is hooked up. There could probably be ways around it, but I'm thinking about a new camera, myself.

It works perfectly, you are so cool. I was about to throw away the camera, but now it works great with Vista!!!!

I have great memories of this old camera and now it works

ok. so i followed everones directions and finally downloaded the software, but when i opened it a pop up told me my camera was not connected, which, of course, it was. theni found the disc, and tried to update my driver through that. my computer wouldnt even try to download the disc because it was only compatible with certain editions of windows XP BEING ONE OF THEM. from here, i am lost and confused, my computer doesn't look like anything you all described, and i desperately need help. i have a toshiba laptop if that adds to anyones information. so, what do i do now? buy a mac?

I just got a new camera since I have the same problem. The new one is the same resolution but the image is very grainy. My old camera works on XP and the image is way better.

hey a friend of mine is trying to set up her web cam with the windows vista program.she is using the ibm pc camera..and she cant find the software online to get it to work..how do we get it to work?

I am also looking for a Vista driver for the IBM PC Camera. Installing the XP drivers in compatibility mode doesn't work. If anyone figures it out, please let us know! :) Thanks.

I see several people saying this works for Vista but I'm not having any luck. Can anyone post step by step instructions on how to get Vista to recognize this cam after the IBM PC software has been installed? I tried directing the "New Hardware Wizard" to what I thought were the drivers (after installing the software) but Vista didn't recognize them.

I too downloaded the file ibmv5000w2kxp.exe and installed it from Setup. I rebooted the laptop, plugged in the camera and activated the IBM icon. I get the massage that the camera is not connected to this computer. Windows wants to intall new hardware, but can't find a driver for it. I've previously had the camera running on XP2, but now it's spat the dummy. Any clues please, I've tried all suggestions, but no luck. Thanks

If you follow the "IBM Camera to work on Windows XP " it will work in vista. I am using the IBM XVP600 on my computer and it runs fine under vista.

Kudos to camera hacker; his instructions on how to get my web cam going after switching from Windows 98 to XP were just what a 74 year old grandmother needed to get back to seeing her grandkids and post a pix on Facebook. They were the best!!!
