I looked this up a while ago, but have not forgotten it. I vaguely remember one is more compatible in DVD players than the other. Would someone help me out and list out the differences?

Technology has improved to the point that both type of media has the same compatibility with DVD players. See "Is it true there are compatibility problems with recordable DVD formats?" from the DVD FAQ
