Why I always use a lens hood

...and I thought the hood was there to block the rays of light that are from outside the area I intend to get a picture of :)

plus the hoods do make our cameras look nice and cool. and bigger

A number of strange shots here had togs baffled, but the answer was in a photo book many years ago. It consisted of a lot of hexagon images on these shots. Easily explained, the shots were taken without a lens hood. Even if the sun is not in the shot, the suns rays hit the front lens at an angle and splatter. the images are of the aperture blades.
